Happy Easter Card

Over the many years of creating paper piecings, I've finally reached a point where I am truly passionate about creating cards with my finished pieces. I love how intricate the designs become and I've become obsessed with creating tiny detailed pieces for each card that I create.

This Easter card I had created for a hop with KaDoodle Bug Designs and Little Scraps of Heaven Designs, is one of my favorite cards. It's created by combining patterns from each company. I love how detailed this card turned out.

Heard You Caught A Bug Card

I've been wanting to create a card for this stamped sentiment from Virginia Turtle for awhile now. I was wanting to use a mason jar design with a bug inside, so when Little Scraps of Heaven Designs came out with the Little Buggers pattern, I was super thrilled. I love how this card turned out!

Take Time to Smell the Flowers Card

I love black and red, so I knew I had to make these sweet ladybugs from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs. I've created a card using a stamped sentiment from Craftin Desert Divas, as well as a set of finished pieces for scrapbook pages.

Elephant Card

Working with some of my new stamps from Craftin Desert Divas. This stamped sentiment went perfectly with this adorable elephant from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs.

Enjoy Your Special Day Monkey Card

I loved how this card turned out. It's finished look is unlike most of my cards and I love how it came together.

The cute monkey pattern is from KaDoodle Bug Designs and the stamped semtiment is from Craftin Desert Divas.

How to Paper Piece a KaDoodle Bug Designs Pattern

Many people have asked about a "how to" tutorial on assembling a paper piecing pattern. So, before I started my KaDoodle Bug Designs project tonight, I thought I'd do a step by step on how a paper piecing goes together.

First let me say that with KaDoodle Bug patterns, each pattern will include a base piece, which is a silhouette of the completed pattern. This base piece will help guide you to line up your pieces, just like a puzzle. Also, I find the base piece beneficial, when you want to resize a pattern for a project. Whether increasing or decreasing the size, you can use that base piece as a guide for your project.

Before I begin assembling my pieces, I like to have a print out of the finished pattern. The print out will help you match the pieces with the photo and guide you in placing them on the base piece.

Here is the process of assembling:

Once my pieces are inked and detailed, I begin adhering them to the base piece.

Next, I adhere the barrel silhouette over the base piece and start to add the barrel strips

I continue along finishing up the barrel

I sometimes omit smaller pieces when I reduce a pattern for a card, in this case, I've left out the polka dots and nail heads on the barrel. I use Liquid Pearls for those details.

When all of the pieces have been glued and tiny details added, this will be your finished piece.

I hope this information will help giude you with your future projects using KaDoodle Bug Designs patterns. This particular pattern can be purchased by clicking on here

Happy crafting!
